What is Naturopathy?
A Naturopath uses a 'whole person' approach to health and integratges a number of complementary healing practices that base themselves on the following principles to create a state of wellness.
1. To support and facilitate natures healing powers to eliminate disease processes Identify the causative factor of the disease state and treat accordingly.
2. Choose methods of healing that will do no harm to the patient and avoid masking or suppressing systems.
3. Educate the patient where possible and highlight the importance of self-responsibility.
4. Address the person as a whole when treating, as the expression of one system may be due to a malfunctioning of another, i.e. skin conditions relating to elimination of toxins in the bowel/liver.
Depending on the individual requirements of the patient the most appropriate modality will be used and include:
Herbal Medicine
The use of prepared herbs in a tincture, tablet or tea that have various medicinal properties. Tinctures are made up individually for the patients specific needs
Nutritional supplements Homoeopathic Preparations
The use of single supplements or combination formulas to address vitamin or mineral deficiencies. May also involve dietary advice or special diets, i.e. allergy elimination diet.
Homoeopathic Preparations
Diluted and succussed preparations that stimulate the body's vital force to heal itself. Safefor children, adults and the elderly.
Some other modalities include:
Kinesiology, Bowen Therapy, Remedial Massage, Detoxification programs, Reflexology, Counselling and Meditation, Neuro Emotional Technique.
